Man was beaten; teeth, eyes missing

From Staff ReportsJuly 12, 2007

A man found buried in a field in Rolesville last month had been badly beaten in the face with what medical examiners think was a small, blunt object.

According to the report from the medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill, the man, Jason Jeffreys, 21, of 1049 Shuford St. in Wake Forest, died from blunt force head trauma to the face. He had fractures from ear to ear along the middle region of his face, from his eye sockets to his mouth.

The report also states that several teeth had been knocked out and that his eyes were missing.

Jeffreys' girlfriend had reported him missing June 1. Family members, after an anonymous tip, found brown dreadlocks leading to a shallow grave at a field in the 4400 block of Rogers Road in Rolesville, where authorities found his body. The body was badly decomposed, and the exact date of his death was not determined by the medical examiner.
