Suspect arrested after knife attack

Raleigh police arrested a 21-year-old man Saturday that they say seriously injured another man with a knife and brick.

Ernest Austin Smith, whose address was unknown Saturday, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting serious injury upon Kwame Holloway, according to an arrest warrant from the Wake County magistrate's office. Police said the offense occurred July 2.

Smith was being held Saturday at the Wake County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. He also was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Smith is scheduled to appear at the Wake County courthouse Monday morning.
