Specialty of the House

The proof is in the biscuits

CorrespondentJuly 25, 2007

My husband and I ate brunch at the Farmers Market Restaurant in Raleigh last week. The biscuits that were served with the meal were the best we've ever eaten. Could you try to get the recipe for us? -- J.L. Raleigh

On the grounds of the State Farmers Market, the Farmers Market Restaurant (1240 Farmers Market Drive; 755-1550) is noted for its down-home Southern fare, much of it featuring produce from the market's vendors. Owner Gypsy Gilliam generously shares the secrets of the restaurant's fluffy biscuits. And for the sweet tooth, she offers a clever marriage of biscuit and bread pudding, which she calls Biscuit Pudding.
