Wake Forest woman wins Powerball

From Staff ReportsJuly 27, 2007

A Wake Forest resident won $200,000 in Wednesday's Powerball drawing, lottery officials announced Thursday.

Deryl Garrity, 52, matched all five white balls to win the prize, according to a news release. Garrity won $4 in Saturday's Powerball drawing, and, feeling lucky, used those winnings to purchase another ticket for Wednesday's game.

Garrity, accompanied by her family, picked up the prize at lottery headquarters Thursday. She said the winnings will go toward her bills and her sons' college educations.
