Firefighter injured; home destroyed

— Fire destroyed a 4,000-square-foot house on Davie Lane on Tuesday morning.

Investigators think the fire began on a deck of the wood-frame house at 4 Davie Lane, just off East Franklin Street. The blaze was reported at 4:45 a.m., and firefighters had it under control by 6:30 a.m.

A firefighter suffered a neck injury when he was struck by a falling piece of the house's support structure. His condition was not immediately available.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
