Escaped bull captured in Apex

From Staff ReportsSeptember 8, 2007

— For a day, Durham wasn't the only place famous for bull.

Around 2:30 p.m. Friday, Bone Collector, a rodeo bull, plowed through a fence at the Apex Veterinary Hospital, 1600 E. Williams St., said Apex police Sgt. G. Rhodes. Apex authorities and veterinary workers immediately gave chase.

The bull had been spotted several times in the town but eluded officers well into the evening, Rhodes said.

Then around 8:30 p.m., a resident spotted the bull grazing in a pasture off Apex-Holly Springs Road.

Rhodes said the resident stayed with the bull and alerted authorities. An official from the veterinary hospital went to the pasture, collected Bone Collector and returned him to the hospital.
