Public discussion set on environment

— As a part of the 2007 National Conversation on Climate Change, Chapel Hill will hold a community discussion today at the Chapel Hill Public Library.

The Foundation for a Sustainable Community of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce will present a sustainability workshop from noon to 4 p.m. The workshop will include a lunch with a keynote address by Lyle Estill of Piedmont Biofuels.

Three afternoon sessions will offer ways for businesses and homeowners to reduce their effect on the environment while saving money. Speakers will include a green building expert and climate scientists.

From 6 to 7:30 p.m., the town will present 2007 National Conversation on Climate Change, with a panel including Anne Waple of the National Climatic Data Center, Cindy Pollock-Shea of UNC-Chapel Hill and Tom Jensen of the Sierra Club Cool Cities Initiative.
