Kin want school named after soldier

— The family of Staff Sgt. Misael Martinez asked the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday night whether it could push for the new elementary school coming to town to be named after Martinez, 24, who died in combat last November during his third tour in Iraq.

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools system is currently soliciting ideas for naming the new school.

Also during the Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday, board members discussed how a development proposed for downtown that could have shops, residential space and offices should meet the town's 15 percent affordable-housing rule.
