Sheriff's office seizes marijuana

— The Chatham County Sheriff's Office seized 143 marijuana plants in the 11000 block of N.C. 902 in southwestern Chatham County on Saturday, the office announced Wednesday.

The plants, which ranged from 2 feet high to 6 feet high, were destroyed by burning. At maturity, they would have been worth an estimated $286,000, a news release said. There were no suspects Wednesday, the release said.
