Leesville Road 28, SE Raleigh 6

CorrespondentNovember 10, 2007

— Leesville Road's defense kept the Pride in the game long enough for the offense to get going in a 4-AA playoffs first-round victory against Southeast Raleigh.

The Pride (11-1), which lost its undefeated season and the Cap Seven championship to the Cougars on Nov. 2, will travel to Wake Forest-Rolesville for a second-round game.

"We all wanted to play Wake Forest again," Pride quarterback Thomas Wilson said.

The Bulldogs (8-4) gave the Pride a battle though, keeping the score tied 6-6 midway through the third quarter.

That's when Leesville put together a 62-yard scoring drive, Pride defensive tackle Michael Wooten set up another score with a fumble recovery and cornerback Zach Greene picked off a pass to set up the final score.

"In the second half we ran the ball and scored when we got in the red zone," Leesville coach David Green said.
