Police officer injured in wreck

— A Durham police officer suffered minor injuries after a vehicle slammed into a patrol car Thursday afternoon.

J.C. Valle-Avelares was one of several officers responding to a report of a break-in in progress at 325 Bridgefield Place at 1:25 p.m. As officers arrived, two people tried to leave in a vehicle. Their vehicle rammed the passenger side of Valle-Avelares' car. Police arrested Thorne Rogers, 20, of Hoover Road. The other occupant of the car is still at large. Police said they recovered stolen items from the vehicle.

Valle-Avelares suffered a minor head injury.
