Man pleads guilty in income tax case

— A Garner man pleaded guilty Monday to state charges that he inflated itemized deductions in the federal income tax returns he filed for six years.

James W. Curfman, 63, of 7908 Sundown Drive pleaded guilty to six counts of income tax evasion at a hearing at the Wake County Courthouse, according to a news release from the N.C. Department of Revenue.

Curfman will be on probation for five years and must pay $16,854 in restitution to the state.
