DURHAM — A murder suspect will remain in jail after a judge denied him bail Wednesday morning.
Lamont Charles Johnson, 27, who was arrested Tuesday night, is charged with shooting Darraies McClain on Cheek Road at Midland Terrace on July 1. McClain was sitting in a vehicle with his girlfriend when a sport utility vehicle pulled up and shots were fired at McClain, who was hit once. He died the next day.
Johnson has a long criminal record. Johnson, who police say knew McClain, will be represented by a public defender. His next court date is Dec. 18.
