DURHAM — Investigators on Monday continued their search for clues to what led to a home invasion over the weekend that left one man dead and another injured.
Paul Maye, 42, of Massey Avenue was found shot to death Saturday night inside a home on West Enterprise Street.
Officers discovered Maye shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday while answering a call about a break-in in progress at 200 W. Enterprise St.
A few minutes later, officers were called to Bell's Amoco on Lakewood Avenue. The second shooting victim was there.
The man, whose name is being withheld by police for safety reasons, told the officers he had been inside the house on Enterprise Street when the shooting occurred.
The victim at the Lakewood Avenue gas station was treated for injuries at Duke Hospital and released.
Investigators released descriptions of two suspects Monday. One suspect is described as a thin, light-skinned black man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 10, wearing a long, black coat.
Police described the other suspect as a thin, dark-skinned black man in his early 20s, 5 feet 6, and wearing a black jacket.
By late Monday, investigators had not released what they thought to be the motive.
Maye, according to court records, was no stranger to the criminal justice system, with numerous drug, assault and weapons charges against him.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the Durham criminal investigations division at 560-4440 or CrimeStoppers at 683-1200.
