Officers make arrest in shootings

— After a brief foot chase through a residential neighborhood, police arrested a man wanted in two shootings. Officers were still searching for a second man.

Montez Stevons, 20, of Avondale Drive is charged with shooting a 33-year-old man in the abdomen during a Nov. 3 home invasion on House Avenue. He is also accused of shooting a 19-year-old in the leg on Morehead Avenue on Sept. 25.

Stevons' record includes convictions for criminal contempt, possession of a stolen vehicle and assault.

Investigators were still looking for Cedric Antonio Joint, 20, who is wanted in the House Avenue shooting. Police said Joint frequents the West End neighborhood and Sedgefield Street.

Anyone with information on Joint's whereabouts is asked to call 560-1020, ext. 238, or CrimeStoppers, which pays cash for anonymous information leading to arrest in felony cases, at 683-1200.
