Public access back on Channel 8

January 9, 2008

— The church sermons and other public broadcasts Durham residents used to find on Time Warner Cable Channel 8 will return sometime today, much to the relief of dozens of pastors.

A throng of ministers appealed to city and county leaders Tuesday to restore public access programs to the Channel 8 lineup. The programs disappeared Jan. 1 because of a change in cable regulations effective this year, said City Manager Patrick Baker.

Baker announced Tuesday that regular programming would return to the channel until the city and county work with Time Warner Cable to establish a new public access channel for all local programs.
