Wake Forest school gets new principal

January 9, 2008

— The Wake County school board on Tuesday named Michael Chappell as the new principal of Jones Dairy Elementary School in Wake Forest.

Chappell, currently the school district's senior director for staffing and operations in the Human Resources Department, replaces Craig Matthews, who is retiring.

Chappell was principal of Zebulon Elementary School from 1999 until 2002 before moving to Human Resources. He has also been a principal in Franklin County, where he was the school district's principal of the year in 1998.
