Suspect at large in bank robbery

January 15, 2008

— Raleigh police officials are looking for a man suspected of robbing a Wachovia bank in northeast Raleigh late Monday morning.

Officials said the bank at 8901 Six Forks Road was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect then fled in a light-colored "boxy" four-door sedan. Officials speculated that the car could have been a Cadillac from the 1990s.

The suspect is described as a black male of medium complexion who is 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing dark-colored trousers, a dark-colored parka-style coat with furlike trim around the hood, a white cap and yellow or orange gloves. Information about the man's hair color, hair length and other distinguishing features was not available Monday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department's detective division at (919) 890-3555.

The N.C. Bankers Association offers a reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone who robs a member bank. To provide information, call (800) 209-2293.
