Former Benson official indicted

January 25, 2008

— The former town attorney of Benson was indicted this week on three counts of embezzling money from clients.

A Johnston County grand jury indicted Donald A. Parker with stealing more than $306,000 from four clients during the first few months of 2006.

Parker gave up his law license in 2006 after admitting he misappropriated client funds. Also that year, he stepped down as Benson's town attorney and closed his law practice. The criminal case against Parker is pending.
