CHAPEL HILL — Orange County emergency medical workers treated two people for smoke inhalation after a small smoldering fire broke out about 9:25 p.m. Wednesday at 751 Trinity Court, Apt. D-7.
The fire was found in a bedroom on a mattress and box springs, and was quickly extinguished. The apartment's residents said they tried to put the fire out with pots of water.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, officials said in a release. Damage was estimated at $300 for the bed and some clothing. There was no damage to the structure.
The two occupants were treated at the scene, and one also suffered a burn to the hand. Both refused to be taken to the hosal.
