March 25, 2008

— A man was charged with underage drinking after his car hit a utility pole in North Raleigh early Monday morning, backing up traffic for several hours while repairs were made.

Jose Guevara Erasmo, 19, of 7011-18 Sandy Forks Road in Raleigh, was charged with driving while intoxicated, underage consumption of alcohol and hit-and-run.

An accident report stated that Erasmo was heading south on Six Forks Road near Shelly Road when he crossed several lanes of traffic, striking a utility pole on the east side of the street. He fled the scene, but was found later in a nearby parking lot, the report said.
