From Staff ReportsMay 2, 2008

— Two partners in crime were foiled by rush hour on East Franklin Street.

Police say Anthony Ravon Ruffin, 25, went into the Bank of America near University Mall around 4 p.m. Wednesday armed with a handgun and demanded money. He left with an unknown amount of cash and fled in a blue Chevy Tahoe.

Police caught up with the Tahoe, driven by Portia Bright, 22, in "heavy traffic" less than a mile away on East Franklin Street near Eastgate Shopping Center.

Bright of Grifton is charged with armed robbery and is being held in the Orange County jail on $100,000 bail. Ruffin, of Greenville, is charged with armed robbery, identity theft, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of stolen goods. He is being held on $175,000 bail.
