RALEIGH — One man is in jail and another in the hospital with serious stab wounds after an early Sunday morning apartment break-in and knife attack, police said.
Jorge Avalos-Vazquez is being held in the Wake County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail on charges of first-degree burglary, assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.
Police think that, about 3 a.m. Sunday, Avalos-Vazquez broke into an apartment at 4715 N. New Hope Road and repeatedly struck Edith Marisol Barahona, 22, Sughrue said. Avalos-Vazquez is also accused of attacking Luis Angel Dominguez-Vasquez, 23, with a knife, stabbing him in the groin and left arm.
Police found Avalos-Vazquez near the scene and arrested him. Dominguez-Vasquez was taken to WakeMed with serious knife wounds that were not thought to be life-threatening, Sughrue said.
