No problems found with ex-police chief

TFrom Staff ReportsAugust 13, 2008

— Town officials have completed an internal investigation of former police chief Ricky Pope's tenure and found no problems, Seth Lawless, assistant town manager, said Tuesday.

"We felt like we needed to make sure that everything was left in an appropriate manner," he said.

Pope decided to retire last month after he and his estranged wife were charged with assaulting each other.

The 29-year law enforcement veteran had been planning to retire next year.
