Window broken at lacrosse party site

August 28, 2008

— A man was cited Wednesday after a beer bottle was thrown and a window broken at the house at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd., scene of the notorious Duke University lacrosse team party in March 2006.

Duke University Police gave Derek Lee Anderson, 26, who lives next door at 608 N. Buchanan Blvd., a ticket after the bottle was hurled about 2:30 a.m. Anderson is not a Duke student, university police said.

Crystal Gail Mangum accused three members of the lacrosse team of raping her at the party. They were charged but later cleared and declared innocent by N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper. The house, unoccupied since 2006, is now owned by the university.
