Robbery suspects take the bus, too

From Staff ReportsAugust 30, 2008

— To catch two robbery suspects, all Durham officers had to do was catch the bus.

A 20-year-old woman was standing at a bus stop on the 3900 block of University Drive about 9:30 p.m. Thursday when two teens approached her. One indicated that he had a gun and took the woman's MP3 player. The two teens then boarded a city bus.

Officers stopped that bus a short time later at Lawson and Fayetteville streets and arrested the suspects. Kionne Ivin McLaughlin, 18, of Banks Street in Graham, is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. Latonio Lamont McKinney, 16, of Owens Street, is charged with aiding and abetting robbery with a dangerous weapon.
