The lousy weather couldn't contain Durham Hillside running back Desmond Scott and the high-powered Hornets' offense Friday night against Fayetteville Pine Forest.
Scott rushed 25 times for 210 yards and four touchdowns to lead Hillside in a 35-12 win in the first-round of the NCHSSA playoffs.
The Hornets will host crosstown-rival Southern Durham next Friday after the Spartans' 8-6 win over Athens Drive.
Hillside capitalized on two of the Trojans' four turnovers (2 fumbles and 2 interceptions), but it was Scott who electrified the crowd with TD runs of 45, 10 and 39 yards.
His first TD needed only 4 seconds to put the Hornets on the board first after running the opening kickoff 83 yards. His second TD occurred with 2:48 left in the period on a beautiful 45-yarder up the middle. The point-after attempt was blocked.
