Santa arrives Saturday, with North Pole weather

From Staff ReportsNovember 21, 2008

— Santa Claus is coming to town Saturday, and he's likely to need all the warmth that his furry red suit has to offer.

You'll need to bundle up, too, when you head out to welcome the big man at the 64th Raleigh Christmas Parade.

Temperatures will likely be in the 20s when the parade starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday on Hillsborough Street. The route takes the parade down Hillsborough to the state Capitol, then south down Fayetteville Street.

Marching bands, floats, firetrucks and local personalities will take part in the 2 1/2-hour parade, sponsored by the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association.
