North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson missed practice Saturday because of a sore left big toe, and a team spokesman said there is "no status" update on whether he will play against seventh-ranked Duke on Sunday.
Lawson, an ACC Player of the Year candidate, stubbed the toe early in Friday's practice and left early on a crutch. X-rays were negative, and the team was hopeful he would be able to play.
If Lawson can't play, it would likely be up to freshman Larry Drew II and senior Bobby Frasor to run the point. UNC needs to victory to secure the outright regular-season ACC title; Duke will share it if it wins.
