A great blue heron surveys West Point on the Eno City Park in Durham. Great blue herons can be found near the ocean, around small inland ponds and along calmer rivers. They eat fish, invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles and small mammals. They usually nest in colonies with their nests high in trees.
