Cam Ward named NHL's third star

Canes goaltender Cam Ward has been named the NHL third star of the week for the period ending March 29.

Ward had a 3-0-0 record, a 1.33 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage in the Canes’ three wins at Florida, against Ottawa and at New Jersey.

This marks the fourth time this season Ward has been named one of the league’s three stars of the week. He received third-star honors for the week ending Jan. 4, second-star honors for the week ending Jan. 25 and first-star honors for the week ending March 22.

In 64 games, Ward has a 36-22-5 record and ranks third in the league in wins and tied for eighth with five shutouts. He has started the last 24 games dating back to Feb. 7, and has posted a 16-6-2 record, a 2.31 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage in that span.
