Miley Cyrus filmmakers snub North Carolina

Staff WriterApril 9, 2009

Teen actress and pop star Miley Cyrus will not film her next movie in North Carolina.

State officials received word this afternoon that producers for "The Last Song" have chosen Georgia as the location for the film.

"We're disappointed," said Kathy Neal, a spokeswoman for the N.C. Department of Commerce. "We think we made a very strong case for North Carolina."

"The Last Song" was written by North Carolina author Nicholas Sparks specifically for Cyrus, who is the daughter of country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus.
