An Antarctic ice shelf, says the U.S. Geological Survey, has lost a chunk of ice three times the size of Rhode Island, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts that an ice-free Arctic may come within 30 years, rather than the end of the century. How can you read these reports and still continue dutifully to print letters denying and ridiculing the idea of global warming? While letters from moon landing skeptics are funny and instructive in their way, these are simply damaging and dangerous.

Bite the bullet -- reject these letters and make an official addition to your own GRAS list: Generally Recognized As Stupid.
