Devils take wait-and-see attitude toward injured players

Staff WriterApril 24, 2009

New Jersey Devils coach Brent Sutter isn't ruling out a return by forward Jamie Langenbrunner and defenseman Bryce Salvador for Game 6, but he isn't committing to it either.

Sutter said today that Langenbrunner (with a lower body injury) and Salvador (with a knee injury) were "day to day." An extra day between games improves their chances of playing in Sunday's game in Raleigh.

"I'm not saying they're going to play but we'll see what happens," Sutter said. "If the game was today neither would be able to play."

Langenbrunner has missed the last three games. Salvador was injured in Game 4 and replaced by Andy Greene in Game 5 as the Devils won 1-0 to take a 3-2 lead in the series.

"Greeney played extremely well," Sutter said. "Our defense was very solid last night."
