Two die in Granville County wreck

FROM STAFF REPORTSApril 27, 2009

— Two people died early Saturday morning in a one-car wreck caused by alcohol and excessive speed in Granville County, state troopers said.

Christopher Rawlings, 22, of Farmville, Va., and Lorrie Zook, 29, of Oxford were both ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Neither was wearing a seat belt, said Trooper Michael Potts.

Rawlings had lost control of the car after rounding a curve on Enon Road near Lucy Averette Road just west of Oxford, Potts said. A front seat passenger who was wearing her seat belt, Heidi Trivvett, 26, of Bullock, survived the crash and was in stable condition at Granville Medical Center.

Potts said he found alcoholic beverages in the car. Rawlings and his passengers were returning from the Orange County Speedway.
