'Idol,' then maybe a trivia card

The Associated PressMay 1, 2009

Matt Giraud says he expects to see his name on a trivia card -- the first "American Idol" contestant to get a judges' reprieve when the audience vote went against him.

Giraud couldn't be rescued this week, when the 23-year-old piano player from Kalamazoo, Mich., again came in last in the viewer tally after his performance of "My Funny Valentine" and was bounced from the Fox contest.

In a teleconference Thursday, Giraud declined to pick the next "Idol" from among the four remaining contestants. Giraud said he likes to joke that he'll be brought back.
