Durham seeks Braggtown help

May 13, 2009

— Braggtown residents will be able to talk about the neighborhood's needs at a Weed & Seed information session Thursday.

Weed & Seed is a federal initiative that gives money to cities to reduce negative elements, such as drug dealing, and create lasting positive efforts, such as after-school programs. The city is applying for money to be used in Braggtown; East Durham and Hayti are past Weed & Seed sites.

The session will take place at the Greater Walltown Gospel Tabernacle, 706 Belvin Ave., from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Other sessions will be held June 4 and June 25.

For more information, contact the city's Department of Community Development at 560-4570.
