End of the journey

May 27, 2009

The Pittsburgh Penguins brought the scrappy season of the Carolina Hurricanes to an end Tuesday night, completing a series sweep on the Canes' home ice.

The Hurricanes toppled the New Jersey Devils in the seven-game first round. They tackled the Boston Bruins, the best team in the Eastern Conference, in the second round, finishing them off in a white-knuckle overtime Game 7. The Penguins turned out to be too much.
