Coupon will help buy TV converter box

— Residents who need financial assistance a to buy a digital television converter box can still apply to get a $40 coupon from the city.

Applications for the coupons can be picked up at Raleigh parks and recreation community centers; police district station houses; the Community Services office at 310 W. Martin St., Suite 201; and at the front desk of City Hall, 222 W. Hargett St. Residents can also register by calling 888-388-2009.

Stations will cease non-digital television broadcasts Friday. Residents can apply for the coupons after then.

The converter boxes are needed only for televisions that do not have digital tuners and use antennas to receive a signal. Residents with cable or satellite service do not need a converter box.
