DURHAM — A Durham County jury has convicted a man accused of trafficking more than 350 pounds of illegal drugs.
Luis Castellanos Gomez of Durham was sentenced this week to more than 16 years in prison for possession of 206 pounds of cocaine and 150 pounds of marijuana.
District Attorney Tracey Cline went into the courtroom this week, she said, just to see a stash of drugs so large.
Investigators from the Durham Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency said they found the cocaine at 2804 W. Main St. and the marijuana at 113 Herbert St. Gomez was arrested April 13, 2007.
The investigation led to the arrest of other suspects and the seizure of a weapon and approximately $300,000.
