DURHAM — A man found dead inside a vehicle earlier this month was shot four times, according to an autopsy released today from the state Medical Examiner's Office.
Thomas McLean Spruill, 25, was found shot to death inside a tan Mercury at a townhouse complex near West Piedmont Avenue and Fargo Street on June 4.
Spruill was driving out of the complex after dropping off some passengers when his vehicle was shot by someone firing a rifle, the autopsy said. The Mercury rolled backwards into some parked vehicles after he was hit. Spruill was pronounced dead at the scene.
A bullet that entered Spruill's chest and struck his lungs and aorta is believed to have caused his death, the autopsy said. Spruill was also shot twice in the right leg and once in the left leg.
No arrests have been made in Spruill's killing.
