Wool E. Bull, beauty queen to attend church event

The second annual "God and Country" celebration, featuring Miss North Carolina, will be held at a Clayton church Saturday and Sunday.

The event honors members of the military and National Guard and their families. Saturday's event is at 6 p.m.; Sunday's event is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Amanda Watson, former Miss Garner and now Miss North Carolina, will be on hand. Also on hand will be the National Guard-sponsored Sprint Cup NASCARs of No.88 Dale Earnhardt Jr. and No.24 Jeff Gordon. Vintage military vehicles and helicopters will be on display. Durham Bulls Baseball Club Mascot "Wool E. Bull" is the special guest on Sunday.

As part of Operation We Care, the church is collecting more than 1,500 boxes for guardsmen serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Cleveland Community Church, better known as C3, is at 8246 Cleveland Road in Clayton.
