Orange ESC office going south

July 11, 2009

— The main Employment Security Commission office in Orange County is moving.

Officials with the agency, which handles unemployment benefits for displaced workers, said Friday that the county office will move from Hillsborough to 503 W. Franklin St. in Chapel Hill on Thursday.

The main reason for moving is to create a one-stop option for residents needing assistance, according to the ESC. The agency will partner with the Orange County Department of Social Services and others to provide all services from a single location.

The phone number for the new Chapel Hill office will be 968-2013.
