APEX -- Cyclist and safety advocate Bruce Rosar turned into the path of an oncoming car, causing the accident that led to his death Saturday, according to a preliminary investigation police announced this afternoon.
Rosar, 56, was killed when his bicycle collided with a car at the corner of South Salem Street and Apex Peakway in Apex. Rosar was a well-known cycling enthusiast and founder of the N.C. Coalition for Bicycle Driving, an organization that works to educate bikers on safe ways to ride while emphasizing their shared right to the roads along with motor vehicles.
His death shocked the cycling community. Rosar was a certified cycling instructor and recognized for being a safe rider.
