Local Market Monitor, a residential real estate forecasting company based in Cary, recently had its data featured in articles in SmartMoney Magazine and BankRate.com. The articles used the data to analyze home prices in markets nationwide.

Anthony & Co. ONCOR International announced that James Rich, development division vice president, received the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Professional accreditation. G. Edwin Belk, Thomas C. Loter and Kimberly J. Wike, all of Belk Architecture in Durham, received LEED professional accreditation. EcoEngineering, a division of The John R. McAdams Co., announced that Jennifer Diaz attained her accreditation. Gareth Avant, an engineer intern in McKim & Creed's Raleigh office, has earned the LEED Professional accreditation.

Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan has earned high honors from the annual publication, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. Smith Anderson partners John L. Jernigan and Gerald Roach (Corporate/M&A) and Lacy H. Reaves (Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use) received the highest ranking possible in their respective practice areas.

Wayne Adams, vice president, and compliance and risk analyst for North State Bank, was awarded the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers, a subsidiary of the American Bankers Association.

Beth Bowen, executive director for the N.C. Association for Medical Equipment Services in Cary, was named Outstanding CEO for 2008-2009 by the Association Executives of N.C. AENC also presented an Outstanding Achievement Award to Diane Weems, events and sales manager for AENC.

Allstate insurance agent Glenn Slifker of The Slifker agency in Apex earned the Personal Financial Representative title. Slifker will now be able to provide his customers variable annuity, variable life and mutual fund products, in addition to auto, homeowner and traditional life insurance products.

Denise Ryan of FireStar in Raleigh received the North Carolina CPA Association's 2008 Outstanding Professional Speaker Award at the association's annual business meeting.

The Raleigh Business and Professional Women named Alexis Pugh, marketing specialist for Central Durham Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as 2009 BPW-Raleigh Young Careerist. The annual Young Careerist Program highlights and celebrates the achievements of successful young women.

Cisco has recognized NWN Corp. as its Public Sector Channel Partner of the Year for the South. NWN has four branches, Raleigh, Greensboro, Charlotte and Houston, Texas.

Bill Friday, president emeritus of the University of North Carolina, was presented the Rotary Luther Hodges Ethics Award for 2009 from the East Chapel Hill Rotary Club. Friday was recognized for "his unwavering ethical standards demonstrated over 60 years of public service to the people of North Carolina."
