Two crew members died when an F-15E fighter plane assigned to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro crashed Friday night in eastern Afghanistan.

The names of the victims will be released today, said Lt. Matt Schroff, chief of public affairs at Seymour Johnson. The families of the victims were notified Saturday afternoon, he said.

The plane was conducting coalition operations, according to a news release. Schroff said officials have confirmed that the crash was not caused by enemy fire.

Officials are still investigating the cause.
