Smokies stingy

— Tyler Colvin hit a two-run home run in a three-run fifth inning to lead the Tennessee Smokies to a 4-1 win over the Carolina Mudcats on Saturday night.

The Mudcats were coming off a 12-inning, 9-8 home loss to the Chattanooga Lookouts that ended early Saturday morning.

Carolina took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Sean Henry led off with a single, stole second base, advanced to third on an error and scored on a groundout by Todd Frazier.

The Smokies tied the score in the fourth on a double by Welington Castillo.

Marco Carrillo (2-1) combined with two other relievers to limit the Mudcats to two hits over the final six innings.
