Duke student shot in attempted robbery

— Police have identified a Duke University student shot Sunday morning near the school's East Campus as a 22-year-old man. Investigators have yet to release the man's name.

The student was walking with a woman on the 500 block of Watts Street about 4 a.m. when a man armed with a gun approached them from behind, police said. Two shots were fired during a struggle. The student was shot in the abdomen, and the suspect fled, police said.

Investigators believe the suspect may have been shot. He was limping while fleeing the scene. The woman was not injured.
