RBC branch in Zebulon robbed again

Staff WriterAugust 12, 2009

For the second time this summer, Zebulon's RBC Bank has been robbed.

About 9 a.m. today, a man carrying a gun walked in the back door of the bank at Sycamore Street and Arendell Avenue in Zebulon. He left with an undisclosed amount of money and ran west down Sycamore Street, said Zebulon police Chief Tim Hayworth.

He displayed his gun and told everybody to be still and not move,” said Hayworth. “He had a plastic bag and he told the clerk to place the money in the plastic bag.

Hayworth said the man was wearing black clothing, boots and a hoodie.

No one was hurt during this morning's robbery. Anyone who saw suspicious activity near the bank, is asked to call Crimestoppers at 366-CRIME.

This is the second bank robbery since June. On June 10, two men robbed the bank just after noon. They were arrested later that day in Johnston County.
