Play of the game

J.P. GiglioSeptember 4, 2009

The only time an N.C. State player touched the ball in the end zone came with 3:28 left in the fourth quarter. Problem for the Wolfpack: Receiver Jay Smith couldn't hold onto the ball.

On first-and-10 from South Carolina's 32, Russell Wilson scrambled, bought time and found Smith in the end zone. The ball cleared two South Carolina defenders. Smith got his hands on it, bobbled it and then dropped it.

Three plays later, State turned the ball over downs, and South Carolina ran out the clock for a 7-3 victory.
